About this Park
This park includes the braided lower Finn Creek, a deep meandering channel, and islands in the North Thompson River. No camping or day-use facilities are provided here.
There are high values for chinook, coho and bull trout spawning. The park offers grizzly bear and moose habitat and has potential for many bird species.
Safety information
- Bring your own drinking water as potable water is not available in the park.
Location notes
The park is located on the North Thompson River, approximately 70 kilometres northeast of the town of Clearwater. The closest communities are Clearwater, Blue River and Kamloops.
Activities
- 6818:Hunting The discharge and carrying of firearms is permitted in this park for the purposes of hunting during open season. Please consult the BC Government Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis for more information. Contact BC Parks at parkinfo@gov.bc.ca with any specific questions.
- 6818:Canoeing A canoe or kayak is necessary to access the North Thompson River in this area. Always exercise caution when navigating the North Thompson River. Sweepers and log jams may not always be visible in advance.

- 6818:Wildlife viewing There is no viewing platform but the park is a good spot for viewing spawning chinook and other wildlife. Approximately 3 km from the park, the local regional district has a day use area that offers a viewing platform overlooking a spectacular river feature.
- 6818:Pets on leash You are responsible for behaviour of pets and domestic animals and must dispose of their excrement. Backcountry areas are not suitable for dogs or other pets due to wildlife issues and the potential for problems with bears.
- 6818:Winter recreation Backcountry skiing and snowshoeing are permitted but there are no maintained trails. Snowmobiling is only permitted on the pipeline right-of-way.
